30% of Australians identify as having no religion - census 2016

With Australians, particularly in the 18-34 age group deserting religion in droves, Australia has now nearly a third of it's population saying they have no religion at all.

Is it any wonder after the lunatic middle aged white Catholics in the Lieberal party have been representative to Australians of religion? Who will ever forget having mad monk Abbott as PM?

Notably the biggest change has come in the most recent years:

Those reporting no religion increased noticeably from 19% in 2006 to 30% in 2016. The largest change was between 2011 (22%) and 2016, when an additional 2.2 million people reported having no religion. ABS
Today the Greens are calling on religion to be dropped from the opening of parliament.
